Updated: Oct 14

The team gears up to roll on a scene for the short film "Date Night."

Boston, MA – Revilla Films has opened the door to aspiring filmmakers in Massachusetts, providing a unique opportunity to participate in the production of an original horror short film, now available for viewing on YouTube. This initiative, designed to support local talent and foster creativity, saw enthusiastic participation from filmmakers, actors, and crew members across the region.

Under the guidance of Luis Revilla, Revilla Films supplied all the necessary equipment and resources, allowing local filmmakers to step into the spotlight.

“Our mission is to support aspiring filmmakers who want to break into the industry but lack the necessary resources,” Revilla said. “This project is all about hands-on experience, and we’re thrilled to see so many passionate individuals stepping up.”

The short film, set in Boston, follows a young man who purchases a mysterious gift for his girlfriend, only for their romantic evening to spiral into a night of horror. This gripping storyline, written by college student Mitchell Qualls, captivated not just the filmmakers but also the talented local actors involved, including Kaleigh Ryan and Findlee Abraham.

Despite some crew members having little to no prior experience on film sets, Revilla emphasized the learning aspect of the project.

“It was incredible to see how quickly everyone adapted and grew. The enthusiasm and commitment from our team were truly inspiring,” he noted.

Filming took place in Boston, infusing the project with a unique local flavor. The collaborative effort included a diverse group of gaffers, grips, assistant directors, sound technicians, and more, all contributing their skills to bring the vision to life.

The completed horror short film can now be found on YouTube, showcasing the hard work and creativity that went into the project. Revilla Films not only aims to produce compelling content but also to build a supportive community of filmmakers ready to tackle future projects.

As the film gains traction online, Revilla Films continues to pave the way for local talent, proving that with the right support, great stories can emerge from any corner of the industry.
