East Hartford, CT — June 2, 2026 — Students participating in the Revilla Films Video Production and Communications Workshop are gaining valuable hands-on experience in filmmaking and professional communications in a Spanish-language learning environment, while developing skills that can be applied both academically and professionally.

The workshop, currently taking place in East Hartford, is an intensive two-month program that has brought together aspiring producers and communicators who are learning the fundamentals of video production, including camera operation, lighting, audio, storytelling, production planning, and digital media. More importantly, students are learning how to produce content with purpose—using media as a tool to inform, educate, and connect with the community.

One of the program's most impactful components is its emphasis on real-world experience. Rather than ending with classroom instruction alone, participants are preparing to take part in a professional production where they will apply the techniques and concepts learned throughout the workshop. Their final project will be produced in a professional environment and distributed through MuvliMax, Revilla Films' Spanish-language digital platform, as well as across social media channels, giving students the opportunity to contribute to content that reaches a broad audience.

The workshop’s technical and production fundamentals are guided by Luis G. Revilla, Director and Executive Producer of Revilla Films. A graduate of Central Connecticut State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Communication and Media Studies and a concentration in Film & TV Production, Revilla brings more than 17 years of experience in media and communications. Throughout his career, he has produced cinematic, commercial, and journalistic content for organizations across Connecticut, including documentaries, institutional campaigns, and community-focused productions.

Under his leadership, Revilla Films has partnered with state agencies, educational institutions, nonprofit organizations, and private companies, building a reputation for delivering professional content while creating opportunities for community engagement and workforce development. Through this workshop, Revilla is helping introduce students to the practical and creative aspects of media production while exposing them to industry standards and expectations.

The program also includes a communications component led by Cathy Montano, host of Edición Estelar, the community-focused news and information program produced by Revilla Films and distributed through MuvliMax.

Montano, who holds a Bachelor's Degree in Social Communication and Journalism from the Central University of Bogotá, Colombia, brings more than two decades of experience in documentaries, interviews, and professional on-camera communication. Throughout the workshop, she is helping participants build confidence in front of cameras, strengthen public speaking abilities, improve interview techniques, and develop professional presentation skills.

Community members and participants have praised the workshop for providing meaningful opportunities that are often difficult to access at an early stage, particularly within Connecticut’s Spanish-speaking community. By combining technical production training with communications education, the program is creating a pathway for students to explore careers in media, journalism, marketing, and professional storytelling.

As the workshop continues, students are not only learning how professional productions are created but are also discovering the power of storytelling and communication as tools for community engagement. The initiative represents a growing investment in local talent and demonstrates how hands-on educational experiences can prepare young people for future opportunities while strengthening connections within the East Hartford community.
